Just The Funny is Miami's leading and most comprehensive improv comedy, stand-up comedy, and sketch comedy writing school. Just The Funny's classes are professionally designed, fully structured, syllabus-driven courses taught by our expert instructors. Each improv acting, stand-up comedy, and sketch writing class ends with a student performance, and all graduates receive a certificate of completion. Just The Funny's classes are designed to give students comprehensive instruction and ample stage time, where students learn by doing, all in a supportive environment. Whether you are the aspiring improv comedy actor, stand-up comedian, sketch writer, or just want to try a class for fun, our classes are built to give you an experience where you will have a great time, all while learning the craft in a safe environment.

Just The Funny's instructors are South Florida's most experienced in teaching improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy. In addition to receiving comprehensive internal instruction on Just The Funny's curriculum and attaining certification to teach at our school, our instructors have been trained by the industry's leading improv and sketch instructors and schools, including The Second City, iO, UCB, The Groundlings, the Improvised Shakespeare Company, North Coast and more!
What does Just The Funny offer?
Just The Funny offers Miami's only full conservatory of improv comedy classes through our Improv Acting core curriculum, featuring 6 comprehensive levels of improv acting instruction, with a full slate of performance level electives available following graduation from our core curriculum. From improv foundations to advanced improv techniques to specialization in improv styles, Just The Funny's got you covered, with a curriculum and course offering equal to those you would find in other great improv cities and communities around the country and across the world. Habla Espanol? We also have a separate cohort of our full conservatory of improv classes in Spanish, one of the few in the country! In addition to our adult improv acting classes, we also offer kids and teens camps and classes, where we teach children the same concepts and skills as adults, but with an extra layer of fun! We also offer stand-up comedy and sketch writing classes, where we dive into the art of writing and performing written material for the stage and screen! Check out our classes below. CURRENT CLASSES
IMPROV ACTING 1 - IMPROV SCENEWORK
Our 7-week introductory class focuses on improvisational acting. Learn the techniques to improvise dynamic scenes and characters in a fun and supportive environment, in what is Miami's most popular improv class! Improv Acting 1 concludes with a student performance!

STAND-UP COMEDY
Learn the fundamentals of stand-up comedy to develop your own jokes and material. Discover what makes you funny to help you build your unique routine and stand-up comedy set.

CORE CLASSES
IMPROV ACTING 2 - SHORTFORM IMPROV PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 1
This 7 week course builds on Improv Acting 1. Learn how to play and master a wide variety of shortform (Whose Line is it Anyway? style) games, along with some Just The Funny developed ones. The course also features a student performance!

IMPROV ACTING 3 - INTERMEDIATE SCENEWORK PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 2
Our 7-week intermediary class builds on Improv Acting 2. Focus on improving and sharpening improv skills. Students will be exposed to more advanced improv techniques, scenework, and stage time! The class concludes with a student performance!

IMPROV ACTING 4 - LONGFORM IMPROV PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 3
This 7-week advanced class builds on Improv Acting 3. Learn advanced improv techniques and longform improvisation. Students will focus on performance-based group improvisation with a student performance!

IMPROV ACTING 5 - GAME AND GROUP SCENES PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 4
Our 7-week performance level class builds on Improv Acting 4 and focuses on finding the fun through game and group scenes in both shortform and longform improv. Power up your improv and learn how to go from knowing how to play to playing fast, free, and all while having a great time with your fellow students. Students will focus on performance-based group improvisation with a student performance!

IMPROV ACTING 6 - PERFORMANCE LEVEL IMPROV PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 5
Our 7-week performance level class builds on all levels Improv Acting. Get critical one-on-one feedback, further building and polishing your improv skills, while creating your own distinct performance ensemble. Students will focus on performance-based group improvisation with a student performance!

PERFORMANCE LEVEL ELECTIVES
MUSICAL IMPROV PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 6 or EQUIVALENT WITH APPROVAL
Our 7-week performance level musical improv class teaches a variety of styles of musical improvisation. The class features scenic, longform, shortform, acapella, and accompanied musical improvisation with expert instruction and accompaniment from our award-winning instructors and skilled pianist! The class includes a certificate of completion and end-of-class student performance, along with an opportunity to further build your education and musical improv skills with potential performance slots post-class!

HIP HOP IMPROV PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 6 or EQUIVALENT WITH APPROVAL
Our 7-week performance level hip hop improv class teaches students how to integrate hip hop with beats in improv. The class features shorform and longform improvised hip hop formats using rapping, rhyming, pre-recorded beats, and beatboxing, with an over-the-top comedic application! The class includes a certificate of completion and end-of-class student performance, along with an opportunity to further build your education and hip hop improv and beatboxing skills with potential performance slots post-class!

SHAKESPEARE IMPROV PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 6 or EQUIVALENT WITH APPROVAL
Our 7-week performance level Shakespeare improv class teaches the ins and outs of how to perform full narrative, comedic Shakespearian improv. The class features shorform and longform improvised Shakespeare-based formats using language, physicality, meter, and rhyming, with an over-the-top comedic application! The class includes a certificate of completion and end-of-class student performance, along with an opportunity to further build your education and improvised Shakespeare skills with potential performance slots post-class!

Our 7-week performance level narrative improv class teaches students how to craft stories through narrative structures in improv. The class features shorform and longform improvised narrative formats using over-the-top characters, plot devices, and structured and organic narrative approaches to create wildly comedic improv! The class includes a certificate of completion and end-of-class student performance, along with an opportunity to further build your education and narrative improv skills with potential performance slots post-class!

HAROLD WORKSHOP PRE-REQUISITE: IMPROV ACTING 6 or EQUIVALENT WITH APPROVAL
Our 7-week performance level Harold class teaches the ins and outs of improv's most famous format and approach, the Harold. This class focuses on building both individual and group mind skills to apply to the Harold format while arming students with all of the moving pieces to perform this signature format from start to finish. The class comprehensively covers everything from dynamic openers to solid scenework, to fluid gameplay and pattern games, to stunning endings, and more. The class includes instruction, coaching, and the creation of your own Harold team to play in our dedicated Harold show at Just The Funny after graduation! Students will focus on performance-based group improvisation with a student performance!

SKETCH WRITING
This 7-week course teaches the skills to write effective and funny sketches, from the commercial parody to full-length scenes. Learn the tricks of the trade, from how to start a sketch, punch lines, and effective endings. Students will write a minimum of 6 sketches, and then watch them come to life as they are acted out in class!
